Harvest, 2018

Old Church will be holding its Harvest Festival service on 7th October at 10.15. Please be with us; please bring what foodstuffs you can so that we can continue to support Foodbank. This should be tinned and processed foods rather than fresh materials. On Saturday, 6th October, our Harvest Supper will be held in the Dorothy Parkes Centre between 7.00 and 9.30. All are most welcome. There is no charge but please bring your own drink and perhaps a dessert to share. There will be music and singing and dancing - but 'mainly yourselves'. Do come.

Service Rota: October - December 2018

Thank you to all those very many members of the Old Church family who work to maintain the quality of our Sunday worship together, whether by cleaning or flower-arranging or many of the other duties for which you volunteer, particularly those during Sunday services. The Service Rota for the next quarter has now been published. It is available on the web-site or can be seen at Old Church.

If you have duties at 10.15 a.m. on Sundays, the Church Wardens would be most grateful if you could be in church by 9.45 a.m. so alternative arrangements can be made for those who, for whatever reason, are unable to be there. Please contact Paul Martin if you wish to change any of the arrangements.

What's On, 2018

If you interested in meeting with others for a sociable afternoon or evening with things to do or items to buy, or for tea and dancing, or to explore issues of faith, or to sing or to be quiet for a day, or to pray together or walk together,  - or a number of other activities, then spend some time looking at our Smethwick Old Church What's On, 2018. It's also available as a hard copy, on paper, but you will need to come to church to find that. We look forward to seeing you at some - even all of these activities.

Safe, caring communities

The Church of England is committed to the care, nurture of, and respectful pastoral  ministry for all children, for all young people, and for all adults. As part of this, Old Church, in turn, has developed policies for the protection of children, the safeguarding of vulnerable adults, and in order to respond well to concerns about sexual abuse and survivors of sexual abuse. Smethwick Old Church Child Protection Policy has been revised and up-dated for 2017 and can be read by clicking on the link. It can also be found on the Documents page and in hard copy in the church. In addition you can find through the following links Old Church Policy on the Safeguarding of Adults, and Old Church Policy on Responding Well to Concerns about Sexual Abuse. These documents provide information on what you should do if you have concerns about any of these matters.

Old Church Photo-album

You may have noticed a short-cut at the foot of this column marked Photos - Photos of recent activities. This will link you to a Google site containing a number of photos taken at recent Old Church events. The Photo-album provides a record of some of the activities of Old Church, saying thank you to all those who contributed and being grateful for our shared lives. We will gradually add to these, to bring the collection up-to-date and add new photos as they are taken. Many of the current photos have been taken by Marjan Zirak.

To see a more full description of each collection of photos, you are advised to select List View, using the button on the top right of the album page.

By clicking on Legal Notices at the very bottom of this page, you will find information about the Old Church policy on the taking and use of photos that appear on this site. In brief, we will not include photos of children without the express, written permission of a responsible adult, we will not name either children or adults without permission and then only in the collection title, we will remove any photo to which objection is taken. To arrange to have photos removed, either follow the instructions in the Legal Notices or write to Paul Martin using the Old Church contact system.

We would be pleased to add further photos of Old Church activities, subject to them complying with church policy.
